There are several nice teeners here at the porsche parade in hershey. The winners of the Concours were pretty nice, but only a couple of the 914s were as P E R F E C T as I expected. There was one from George (yeah, the Auto Atlanta George) that was truely beautiful, original paint, etc. Just perfect, green ( kelly green?), 5000 miles. Guess it lives in the glass box in Marrietta though. Course you can't drive it and have low miles.....
But overall, the 914s in the parking corral were as nice as the concours cars. I talked to one judge. He said, in effect, that you can ALWAYS enter your car, and that relative merits in different aspects determined which car "won" in the different catagories of restoration and preservation and touring. So here are some pictures. If these show your car, please identify yerself! Attached thumbnail(s) |

off the top of my head I would say there were 18 or 20 road going 914s, about a dozen of 'em sixers, in the concours. Three or four looked newer than new but right off the showroom, but the rest had not arived in quite that shape- having now acquired various really nice and usually subtle mods (SS heat exchangers, air dams, lenses and mirrors, etc) or repairs. There were also prolly a dozen racing 914s, including a Lemans winner! In the non-concours corral I believe there were about fifteen, but only three or four of those were not modified a little more. Still they were all fun to look at. It has been great!

I'd much rather play golf than clean my Porsche with a Q-Tip! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Besides I'm better with the golf sticks than Q-Tips anyday. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) |

Hi John!
Your car looked great! I really like the fog lamp covers too. I don't think I talked to you at the show, but I was distracted by my car's non-chaging situation, now exaserbated by a blown oil cooler seal apparently. I've gotten back to DC in my brothers garage. We are gonna tear into it soon (gotta buy ber first). I'll try to get back up to Hershey but I dunno.... Wish I had taken the time to look at your engine more closely.... |
