Just got my rebuilt gauges installed and I replaced all but the GEN lights with LEDs. Started it up today - all looks good but the OIL light doesn't seem to go out. Before this, it operated normally - but it's been in the teens here and I haven't been here to start the car in weeks.
Should I just let it idle or change the lamp back to standard? Oil level is good on the dipstick - 20/50 - not leaking a drop. |

With the key on and engine off check contiuity from the oil light wire to ground. Should complete to ground. Do the same with engine running. Should not complete to ground.
I bet it is the LED. |

Ah. Thank you. I’ll do that and then just switch it back to incandescent and see what’s what.

You Maya wanted to che k your pressure and sender. My oli lift will flicker with the LED when its hot and Im at a stoplight. Pressure is fine, but the sender unit is analog, and the LED operates on such low voltage thik of it as black and white. You only get 2 choices and its either on or off, so at a low voltage it will come on.
My mechanic checked the pressire and it was good. Didnt have another sender unit on hand or would have had him replace it. Doesnt really bother me now I understad it, but if its solid you may want to check pressure. Its obvisly adequare not to set off the light, so I would not get too freaked out, but could mean your pump has some wear. |
