I think I saw somewhere that the lower mount for the front strut could be moved to improve handling. Any info on this?

It’s for bump steer purposes That only comes into play if a car is lowered so much that the stock geometry of the suspension is compromised by lowering the car The modification is to correct the compromise of lowering By changing the steering arm On the bottom of the strut I’m less aware of modifications that would move or change Some use offset ball joints when trying to increase negative camber There are other things that can be done My strut housing were sectioned. And with custom race Kori’s that are shorter than stock to give back shock travel on a lowered car Get a performance oriented 4 wheel alignment with tires that are soft. Like 100 treadwear rated. And high end brake pads. You’ll enjoy that for a performance handling |

The steering arm modification is usually done by a shop
It’s the same as what 911 guys do The steering arm is heated and bent Then cooled in vermiculite over a 3-5 day period Another option is to buy a bump steer kit that mounts where the tie rod mounts go |

OP may be thinking of raising the spindles on the strut. Depending on your setup, this can help keep the suspension geometry in a favorable range on a very lowered car. Brant may be referring to this in writing about a sectioned strut. The amount to raise the spindle depends how lowered the car is and how large in diameter your wheel/tire are. The modification is usually done by a shop set up to do the work.

First learn about suspension setup or get an informed overview from someone who knows what they are doing. Then decide what you want to accomplish and how you plan to do it. Then buy parts, make modifications, etc.
Just doing random things to your car because you heard it might be better is like traveling without a map or destination. |

The 914 has a WONDERFUL front upper mount that allows easy suspension adjustments on the fly. First get used to what you already have the ability to do. The lower mount would be one of the last things I'd mess with while learning how to tune my suspension. It has to do more with how braking effects the front suspension (you can alter the "anti-dive response") but the changes you can achieve with these are MINOR IMO.
