I know there was a thread about repairing (?) the rod, but can't find it. The spring clip at the end of the rod that 'pulls' the pawl against the toothed rachet broke.
I can pull up the handle and use my finger to engage it, but would be nice to have it work properly.

Check with Tangerine Racing. They make a repair piece

Close, but... the end on mine that pushes against the pawl to release it is a lot longer and a 90 degree bend. The end on yours looks like it broke off. I would wonder if it might jam the pawl when trying to release.

Looks like this requires welding the small backet on to the handle. Not sure how you would do that with it still in the car...

EDIT: I see what you are saying now. I was looking at the spring tip, you are talking about the downward end of the rod. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif)

I don't know, mine looks like the ones pictured on the AA website. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

I know this was from a early car. I believe it came out of a recently parted 71, could have been a 72. Anyway here is a picture from the AA site. Maybe two different early rods?????
