Curious if anyone has used a product like Vapor Trapper in their setups. I have quite a bit of smell coming from the vent line of my modified in tank pump assembly. I hear this product works well with classic cars and modified classics but was hoping for a cheaper solution. The Vapor Trapper with mounting brackets is $349. I’m tired of my garage smelling of gas as well as the passenger compartment.

Pricey for a charcoal canister.

You can make one out of tupperware and fish filter charcoal if so inclined.

That's a SCAM at 350...

Nothing but a charcoal canister if that!

Find a 914 canister and affix it appropriately.

Some of them are openable and you can change the 'activated charcoal" out yourself.

A charcoal canister is a "sponge" for fuel vapors, and you dry the sponge with airflow through it.

Most of the time the vapor rich air from this canister is induced into the intake stream.
Most cars use a "purge valve" which allow flow during cruise (not idle or WOT). This is fed into the intake manifold past the throttle blade. This requires a check valve that can be vacuum operated or electronic in nature.

The late 914 set up used bleed air from the fan housing and merely fed it into the air filter housing. If the engine is running canister purge is occurring.

This IS the simplest canister purge I've ever encountered!

I am lucky enough to have the plastic late canister. The end pops right off and I replaced the original charcoal with fresh from a fish tank supply. Problem solved. FYI I threw the old charcoal in the trash and it smelled for two weeks.

Same here, mines in the engine bay. If you can find one, get the plastic can and swap out the charcoal.

That looks every bit as "custom" as the original post.

It ALSO looks double the size.

Bigger IS better!
(at least where charcoal canisters are involved).
