I’m curious as to how everyone establishes prices on FS items. I seem to have two prices too high or too low. I know the search function here is supposed to be a source but my search skills apparently suck. Anyone here using eBay as source???

Evilbay is largely fantasyland. Someone once saw a mint NOS part sell for $X. Now they think their rusted, worn out part is worth X.

Every now and then an honest part & deal show up there but they are few and far between.

As buyer my typical buy range is 30-60% of new give or take based on condition, part rarity, OEM quality vs aftermarket crap, etc. When stuff starts getting more than 40-50% of new, why buy used?

On the few parts I’ve sold here in the forum I try to move parts quickly, wanting to keep parts in the community and try to keep my buying price model in mind as I set a selling price.

If you use eBay to gauge pricing for anything (not just 914 parts), be sure to search for sold items/completed transactions vs. what sellers list items for. BIG difference. People can list something for whatever they want. Doesn’t mean anybody is going to buy it. Thus, sold items/completed transactions is the way to search.

If you have something of value, I’m happy to throw in my 2 cents. Small stuff, I’ve just been giving away so I haven’t really kept up with prices.

Thanks…Mark and Mark…..I hate to bother people on individual things but appreciate offer… Good points and supports my feeling about eBay numbers……sometimes just silly.
