Have you noticed how your stock side mirrors do not sit horizontal? Here is a photo of my right side mirror, taken with the camera set horizontal and the mirror straight out from the door. Notice how the mirror center tilts downward to the outside.
The fix is a 4° wedge-shaped gasket that replaces the stock gasket. My son will 3D print these on demand from TPU, with 95A hardness, so they are somewhat flexible and enough squish to conform to the slight curve at the top of the door. The price is $15 per pair, shipped to anywhere in the US. You can order them through this PayPal listing: https://www.paypal.com/instantcommerce/chec...t/86NRR79B8ZA86 I can answer any questions here, or via personal message. Attached thumbnail(s) |

I looked up TPU resistance to UV light and found thei.
UV Resistance: Neither TPU nor TPC offer inherent UV protection, similar to PETG and PLA. However, TPU exhibits slightly better resistance to UV degradation compared to TPC. PP shines in this aspect, boasting significant UV resistance, making it ideal for prolonged outdoor applications.Feb 20, 2024 Maybe a coating could prevent yellowing ? |

Order placed. Thanks!
Spray painting them before installing should give the needed UV resistance. At least, I hope.... |

PP = polypropylene
I think these are a great idea. The thing that bugs me the most it the pattern that 3d printing gets on the surface. I guess a person could just sand out with a few grits or they could be run in a larger batch in a vibratory finished like I use on small acrylic cubes. I am on board to get a pair and will place an order for one set for #41 now Thanks Bob B Paypal none thank you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) |

2 sets ordered. You should make it so the amount is not preloaded at 1 set.. I had to order twice.... cool idea.

Just ordered a set. I was going to order more, but could not change the quantity. Once these arrive and I install them, I will likely order 2 additional sets. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Thanks, everyone. I did not consider the UV resistance (I will ask my son what he knows). But since only the edge is exposed, I hope any problems will be minimal. Same with the 3D printing pattern with this format printer and material. Here's a photo of the left mirror on my car (still dirty).

Re: UV resistance,
You can always coat in UV resistant ceramic coating (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) and do your whole car while doing so... |
