The annual "Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show" is now open for entries. The Car entry fee is only $35 per car.
I thought it would be great if we can get a group, maybe 10 or 12, of our 914 together to exhibit as a group. In the past, groups have been allowed a little bit earlier entry for set up, allowed to display a banner or a 10x10 tent, and some goodie bag stuff.

I have not approached them yet about this idea, just want to see if there is some interest from you all first. this one is kind of a special one as its the first event since the death of our friend Chad McQueen.

Let me know by replying here, if you think you might want to join us and exhibit your car as a group. June 1, Chino Hills, Boys Republic.

Sounds like a cool event for a good cause. Let me see if anyone is planning to attend from the Bay Area/North Bay. Maybe we could caravan down? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Tempting but I would trailer the car over from the PHX area. Did not enjoy driving in the LA area last time I was there for a 000 event in downtown LA. Driving a manual in that traffic, even on a Saturday was NOT enjoyable.
A friend of mine here has helped with the planning of that event for years and tried to get a group from here to go.

Its well short of LA. you would come in on I-10, take 60 through Riverside, South on 71 and you are there.

@SKL1 - I totally agree. I have taken my car down to LA a few times and I absolutely hate LA traffic. I leave my home around 0200 and get there typically just before 0800. I stay the night at some mid-level motel and hit the road home around 0500 to get out of LA before it gets stupid- which it always does. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I was born and raised here 72 years ago, and it seems that it's stupid here all the time.

Just take I5 down from Northern Cal and use the 210 to bypass LA. LA is always a mess.

RF- if you're talking to them ask if there would be a safe place to park an enclosed trailer during the event. No way I would drive it over from PHX.

Years ago this happened at the 'Friends of Steve McQueen car show...1st place in 'Cool Style (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif)
Freeman Thomas (co-founder of R-gruppe) was one of the judges that year. Trophies are very unique, as these are constructed by the students in the campus industrial shops (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
