Well here is what i have so far. I am curious what you think, polite or otherwise. We are all polite here so I have no worries. The horn works and the thing isn't likely to fall off into my lap honking like a madman.

My son says "You know it isn't exactly a Bentley or an E type, they used a lot of plastic on the 914". True. Here are some samples on the car. -I am not affiliated with Porsche, VW or Bentley.-

Maybe a bit smaller crest. This one is a bit smaller than a hood crest. The aluminum keeps stuff out of the area and stabilizes the wood, but I might try anodizing it. Black is the hardest for me; sometimes turns out sorta purple.

Looks good from where I'm sitting, I prefer the one with the higher contrast emblem. Would look good with the brown vinyl interior my car came with.

That would require a flip top. Did anyone ever use the smugglers box in a 91 to actually, ahhh, smuggle?

Certainly. Right now I have walnut with a cloisonné top. So, I could at least do walnut. Trying to figure out how to improve the aluminum skirt. Makinga small compartment has already been mentioned, but I am thinking about improved appearance. Would it look better as wood all the way down?
