I am ready to put my heads back together and for the life of me, I can't remember if the springs had spring seats or some type of washer under the springs. I know they didn't have any shims. The wilson book refers to valve spring seats. I checked the Haynes manual and it does not list these, but lists an Oil Deflector ring. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Rod |

Repeat after me,
Dere aint no washer or shims.... The spring seat is cast into the head. It is the boss that the spring goes around and the valve guide goes into. As per the oil deflecting ring, I have never seen one on my 1.8. It shows in the factory engine manual and says all 8 should be replaced and lubricated..... But it doesn't show in the spare parts book (for any size engine)!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Might be an early thing they took out. Ken |
