914 gurus, I am considering buying this instead of a rotissirie for my soon to start rust-o-ration on my 73' any input on why this would/would not work well? Anyone already used one of these things?

I have one,but I am afraid to use it on the 914. It works great on the rear wheel cars. I just do not want to put all that weight on my tranny and suspension (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

My is alittle different than that one,but the same principle. I bought mine from Eastwood a few years back.

Sorry last post here....We tested ours on a 40' Ford. It held the weight,but there was some clearance issues with the side mirror. I'm out!

I like the idea of a regualr rotissirie but it awfully big to have sitting around when I am done with it. thanks all for the input! |

Wait, are you trying to imply that once a 914 goes on a rotisserie, one day it actually comes back off again? Are you sure about that? If it was true, you could sell the rotisserie to another boardie, grossly undercutting Eastwoods or anyone else who sells them, and still make back all the cost of building it, plus a little extra. You can build a rotesserie similar to that in Automobile Atlanta plans for about $250, including castors from Harbor Freight. It took me about 8 hours. When I am done with it (hopefully in a few weeks), it can be disassembled into 3 pieces, so will not take up much room. It has been really handy during my rebuilding of the floorpans, firewalls, engine bay tin, etc. It is really nice to just reach up and turn toe car as needed. Good luck. Joe O.
