...while letting in of the flare to the body, I noticed something, and I just have to mention it. When I saw that the section shape for the flare was not the same as the car, I knew a blend as in order but didn't know how far to take it. I have attached a simple example of each section, and a jpg file from Patrick Motorsports and how they handled it. In simple terms, their photo answered my question.
It just seems that everytime I get a warm and fuzzy, something puts hair in my soup.
The sketch shows the section of the flare (in red) and the body section (in blue). My concern is the angle part of the section. There is enough material to form the channel.

This is how Patrick Motorsports handled it...

First off, I'm not a professional body guy!!

After welding on the flares, I ended up cutting off the bottom sections (all 8 of them), modified the sections as required and then welded them back on.

Here is a photo;

And here is a link to my web site showing what was done in regard to that area of the flare.

I had to do that on one of my sections also, the back of the rear flares match up the best IMO. The inner ones on both front and back are the most difficult.

Keep think about the rockers while your working. Nothing is going to line up there either. You said you weren't a bodyman, but you will be by the time this is done.

I gave up on thinking the fiberglass rockers were going to look right with my flare installation and now I'm getting ready to start modifing my steel ones to match the profile of the finished body.

I cut the fender where i 'painted' the pink line leaving the channel. I will tie into this channel with the flare. Obviously i will have to shape the flare in the area where i 'painted the red oval'.

...thanks for sharing your flustration with us....I feel exactly the same way...
I went to your website, and yes, I too have the same problem with the flares.
I believe that the angle carried through the flare from the Patrick motorsport photo is of a full flared fender. If it isn't they did an excellent job of it.
I believe that I can make two cuts and form and reweld without removing material.
However, the curve that you moved disturbs me, because mine is also too shallow. Great! It became more than I thought.
Another thing I noticed last night was that the flat face of the rear flare on the passenger side is nice and vertical, and the driver's side rear flare is angled toward the top at about 5 degrees and not so vertical.
This has become more of a battle than expected.
Adapt and overcome!

Don't get too crazy or anal about it.

I don't think there really is a "perfect" installation that can be used as a model. I've seen some flared 914's that are totally beautiful and works of art, but I've no idea if they are as the factory intended. (I think the factory fudged it also)

I was worried about it for quite some time and finally decided to just jump in and do it.

That 5 degree tilt may be normal.
