(unless you are a major pro) Only trust the guide coat sanding if you have a straight sanding board and are doing the sanding real lightly. You should just "glide" over the high points. The one thing I recommend is to get a shop light and direct it down along the surface, not directly at it! Then turn off all the other garage lights.
