I'm just getting a feel for interest first. I've contacted the supplier to see if he's interested in shipping more of these to the US as well.
If this goes forward, I'll need payment up front and will of course offer painted bodies at a discount during the group buy period. If you're interested, please let me know. edit: Oh, depending on the EUR to Dollar exchange rate, the price shipped may be in the $40-$50 range, but I'm working on that. Edit: $33 per body $12 shipping If I have payment for more than 30 bodies by the time I order then, I'll refund you the $3 discount or put it towards a paint job. I want to place the order October 1st. Now I just hope the Euro/Dollar rates don't change. Send Check to: David McLaughlin 2 Olean Road Burlington MA 01803 In hopes of getting a few more orders, I'm keeping the buy open till the end of the week. If you want to pay by paypal, please add 5% to the total and use airboston@comcast.net for the account. Orders (payment received): George Henry - 2 Bodies (hold for paint) Jason Panciera - 2 Bodies Gary Gartner - 1 Body Painted Chris Glanville (Nor.Cal.914) - 1 Body Joe Sharp - 5?? Painted?? Ok, I'm really not happy with these new shells. It's too late to return anything. I don't know if I could expect any sort of refund either.
Here's a copy of an email I wrote to the store owner in Germany: Mr. ....., I’m writing to ask you about these Carson shells. I still have a couple from the initial batch and was just shipped another from Austria as well. These are solid and very clear plus they have a sticker on the roof (schutzfolie) and on the side (Carson 13284). The mold lines are clear and the body is tough to cut through with a Xacto knife. Lastly, the extra plastic forms a rectangle. This new batch on the other hand is a totally different story. The plastic is so thin, it barely takes two passes with a knife to cut all the way through. The molded lines are barely visible and the corners are not as tight. The plastic is also quite cloudy plus there are no stickers. There is a huge difference in quality. I was wondering if I should be talking to you or directly to Carson. I’m not looking to return any as most have already been distributed throughout the USA with the remaining few here for me to paint and ship to my customers. I guess I’m just wondering why the difference. It almost looks like two different places pulled the shells. One had better plastic and higher vacuum and the other cutting corners. The reply I got: QUOTE Hello Mr. McLaughlin, thank you for your Email. I know that Carson testet a new supplier for their bodies for a while, but they stayed at their old one. Maybe this is the reason for the different bodies. I´ll ask them if you want. Please advise. For the next order i´ll look to get the better ones, ok ?? Attached thumbnail(s) |
