sorry Scotty. It's just that when the idea was brought up to me, I thought it was great and we discussed specific dates that would and wouldn't work. I said that October was a very bad month because there is so much going on in this part of the country that it will definitely conflict with too much, so we settled on September. With that knowledge, I started talking it up to all the 914 owners in the area. We had some really great ideas of things we could help out with and I got a bunch of people that have never done anything with the 914 group very excited. There is a collector here that has one of the Brumos 914 GT's that he said he would try to bring out...stuff like that.
I'm just a little upset that we finally have an event close enough for many of the Carolinas and other Southeast people can attend, and nobody bothered to see if the timing worked out. I would assume being a PCA event you would need to consult the local PCA region to get them to sponsor it or something right? or is that not necessary? Not sure with SIG events.... Look, I'm sure this is going to be a great event, and yes, part of me is just pissed that we probably won't make it. I was at John's yesterday and he was very disappointed too. He's never been to a 914 gathering, even though his #1 passion is 914's. He has a long history of racing them, back when they were new from the factory. He's raced with Hurley Haywood and was good friends with all the Brumos guys. At one point, we counted 19 914's at his shop (some were just old chassis, but they count) The Dragon is a great run, as are a lot of other roads there. If any of you can make it, I strongly encourage you to be there.... |
