Still debating to build a 2.0 or 2.4 or 2.7 or say fuch it sell it all and get a 3.0 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)
To me the bottom line $$$ looks almost the same. For a 3.0: What would I need to keep for the clutch and PP (9bolt fly) that works on a 901? What would I need to buy from KEP? Should I be grabbing anything else from the donor engine ? I'm looking a a few engines, #1 a 3.2 that's a bit beyond my budget, #2 an unknown 3.0 longblock core, spins fine, I suspect a broke headstud(s) #3 a good used stock 3.0 euro sc with CIS, #4 a hot rod 3.0 with webers newer top end w/JE's I'm reading all the pro's and cons, yes JP.... Santa did bring me Wayne's book (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) What would be your order on my engine choice list above? Cheers (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |

Just took my 3.0 914-6 out, man your gonna have a blast when you get it back together, this car is so fast and fun...
As for the distributor, give steve at rennsport a call I think he did mine for around 300 and he really knows his stuff. He also helped me with my initial carb jettings. As for a dyno I talked to a guy with a 78 3.0 with 46mm carbs and headers (otherwise stock) and he claimed to dyno his motor at 240hp at the flywheel... Talk to steve about running a 9.7:1cr on pump gas, typically you can do it, but he might want to set your total advance a little lower. on normal water cooled engines you can go up to around 10:1 on 91 octane... |
