Why are my heat exchangers not meeting up to the hanger on transmissio Options

I own a 75 2.0. I have converted all of the exhaust to the earlier 73-74 2.0 exhaust with all of the proper hangers, heat ducts, etc.

My problem is that when one of the exchangers meets up to the mount where it meets the muffler it is overlapped by the hanger by almost 2 inches. Then, on the other heat exchanger it is short from reaching the hanger by almost 2 inches. For some clarification when I am looking from the rear of the car, both exchangers are aimed more toward the passenger side (to the right) about 1 inch or so which is screwing things up. I was under the impression that the mount for the 2.0 is symetrical so there should be no issues whether or not I flip it around on the transmission correct?

Also, I know that I have all of the correct hangers, 2.0 exchangers, duct work, etc. but I cannot figure out why it would be sooo off. When I took the 75 exhaust off everything fit perfectly so I know everything is straight. The only thing I can think of is what if the exchangers that I purchased came from a car that had been in a wreck and were tweaked to one side??? not sure.

Can anyone offer some advice as to why this could be or how to fix?

Help for those that hadn't even asked...Davep is right on....Was wondering what the heck happened to my six and loosened header nuts at heads and everything connected....It will probably go "BOING" When the muffler is removed but I got it on...Thanks from me !
Amazing how basic mechanical principles can be forgotten with age.....sucks actually !

Thanks for the help. The muffler bracket/hanger needed to be flipped. Everything is good. Man, I thought by looking at it that it must be even on both sides but guess not. Glad it wasn't something serious.
