Stupid feral cats. Options

We have a litter of feral kittens in the neighborhood ... they were born back in October and are getting some size on them now.

They decided the cover on the Porsche would be fun to sharpen their claws on ... ripped up part of it real good and then apparently one got his little claw caught and he freaked out and ran, ripping the cover from about the middle of the windshield to the front bumper.

Damn I wish I had a suppressed .22


Anyway, I spent over $100 on this cover (a Coverking Triguard I ordered through Pelican) and I just don't have that kinda coin laying around so can anyone recommend a good cover for under $50?

Needs to be an Outdoor cover that can withstand rain, snow and feral cats.

I would just buy a couple extra blue tarps and cover the car but then it would look like crap and I don't want to be the bum that trashes up the neighborhood.

Is the current cover so shredded that you couldn't put it back together with some iron-on patches, the kind your mom probably used to repair your blue jeans when you were a kid?

Is the current cover so shredded that you couldn't put it back together with some iron-on patches, the kind your mom probably used to repair your blue jeans when you were a kid?

Nope, I've already patched this cover in several spots using "Gorilla Tape" and that sticks well, but before the long tear, they removed about a 2 square foot spot in tiny pieces. SO aside from the long tear there's a big chunk missing out of the middle.

This is a pretty simple fix. Contact a local cat rescue agency and ask if they have a live trap you can use. They generally loan them out. Then buy some cheap cat food and put a paper cup of it in the back of the trap. You will be catching kittens for as long as it takes to get them. There is a Federal Grant currently funding catch - spay/neuter - release programs. If the kittens can be tamed, they will be adopted. If not they are re-released into the wild in parkways to control rodent populations. This should solve your problem without having to fu@k your karma in the next life or having Clay bring that big MOFO over to kick your cat hatin' butt. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Cat ladies are generally not socially good for anything but cat rescue programs. They make lousy wives. Ask me how I know...

Don't worry, I wouldn't REALLY shoot the cats (hell, we already named 'em...we call the black ones "Boo" and the orange one "Punkin'" because they first came out around Halloween).

Our next door neighbor (who's front porch they're living under) has already contacted a humane trapper to remove a woodpecker that keeps reopening the same hole every year in their siding each year. He's going to get the cats and take them to his farm where they can eat mice in his barn.

At any rate, I'm not worried about my karma either ... we're dog people (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)


I'm really hoping this trapper guy catches Mama too ... worst thing about these feral cats is that the litter was originally 6 and there's only 3 left (so 3 either froze or fed the local coyote population). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) They don't get mama and there will be more fuzzy little guys to suffer. Seriously a .22 to the side of the head is much more humane than being ripped apart and eaten alive by a 'yote.

Cats are by nature, solitary animals. They normally don't live in cat groups unless they are kittens. Once momma feels they are old enough to fend for themselves she will boot them out by rejecting them. When the cat is domesticated, they actually become developmentally frozen at kitten in their heads. This is why they want to kneed on you and lick. They think you are the momma. Many are developmentally both kitten and adult, in that they think of you as momma and, if they go outside and encounter other cats - they are hostile toward each other. The exception is when a female is in heat and even that is pretty much a hostile act.It could well be that the other kittens have moved outward to seek their own territory.

I know what you mean about the coyotes though... When I was at Edwards AFB the coyotes used to come down the street at night carrying a cat or small dog they had snagged live in their mouths. They grab them and drag them away alive and then rip them apart as a group.
