I want to make a test platform to test my engine before installing it back into the car. I have seen a few but was unable to find the post. If some one has some pics and what I need to get the engine to run I would appreciate it!

Lots of people had different ways of doing it. This is what I made and it worked really well.
(IMG:http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3012/2521540262_df709aa6a4_b.jpg) It is plywood, with a cut out in the center where a floor jack can be rolled in. The whole platform is on casters to be moved about, and was designed so that the engine, transmission, and exhaust could be moved on the test stand under the car, raised into place and bolted in after i was done with the testing. It was designed with Foleys lifting plate in mind. The dashboard has a button for the starter, a switch for fuel and ignition, and a tach. I did it like this so that I could run the starter without actually starting the motor, in order to build oil pressure. in the future, if I reuse it at some point (probably will with Joes 2056 build) I'd put an oil pressure light on it too. I was going to put a throttle on it, but never got around to it. Zach |
