OK, I need some advice from my fellow Teeners that live / have local knowledge in driving from Stockton Calif to Seattle Wa- during the month of February. My inquiry deals with 'snow / road ' conditions during that month. * do I NEED snow chains - even if car is an full time Audi. * If stopped for chain check- do these CHP understand that the Audi has full time 4 wheel. * what are your local suggestions? I plan on making the mt trip from Redding to Medford in the day time..to me this much safer as there 'should ' be more traffic utilizing the road..thus clearing up any snow / etc. ANY suggestions is welcome.. ps I JUST bought a new set of Nokian WS all season snows for this trip..do I NEED to worry?? Thank YOU! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Here`s my Dads story .....Him and Uncle Bob went to get the new Z-06(Bobs Car) in Bowling green Kentucky ,they didnt want to drive over the Rockies cause of snow so the went south down into texas and then west to catch I-5 ....hit grants pass in Oregon and it was snow`n like a mofo ..semi truck jack knife in front of them so of course they had to stop ,it blocked the whole freeway ..and started snow`n even harder for about 3 hours tell the truck was cleared ,almost 10 inches in that time ,and there they sat ..lol traction control didnt help just keep slipping from wheel to wheel so they turned it off did a little digg`n and with the help of OSP got the car going again just as the plow/sander went buy and had to follow it all the way down the pass, needless to say the finder flares were all chipped up when they got home ,and its still that way to this day ,,,it was a 2008 Z-06 brand freak`n new from the factory ,,I was sick! they just laughed it off ,,those two have been around the world together and just chalked it up to another awesome trip........
Just go prepaired for anything and you will be fine ..If you dont have it you cant use it! and if you dont use it great Small shovel and sand bags ..good luck have a safe trip ..And pleas let me know when you get to Tacoma WA ..If its not snowing i will take you out in the Six and if it is we will take the Z-06 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) |
