My son and I were running an errand. The rain clouds looked at least an hour away so I took the teener. Well, I'm no meteorologist. Five minutes in and the rain starts. Within a minute it's coming down hard, real hard.

A couple of things I noted driving with the top off and the windows down in the rain: 1) your interior will get wet, especially near the backpad; 2) the faster you drive, the drier you'll be; 3) damn it's fun!

I think at faster speeds with the windows up, you could stay quite comfortable.

Anyways, after a few minutes I pulled into a parking lot under a tree and put the top on. The 6 year old thought the whole thing was pretty funny.

The day after I got my drivers liscense, it poured. Of course, after a year of working on the 914, I had to take it to school that day. I was hoping the rain would hold off, and it did, right up until around 10:00. I hurriedly asked my teacher to use the restroom and ran outside to the school parking lot and through a towel over the motor. (No Rain tray with dual IDF's) I then threw the rain tray on top of the towel, and closed the engine lid as far as it would go. What a pain in the ass..

There was one day when I was caught with the top off late at night when it was around 50 deg outside cloud cover. I was coming back from Carlsbad where it was warm, and clear... rolled the windows up, and no water got in.. By the time Imade it back to vista it had cleared up.. It was exciting seeing the rain spray go over the windshield with the top off though. Something every 914 driver should experience... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)
