What does my fellow 914 teeners think. I have a 1.7 with 40 webers. I get a slight pop and hesitation while accelerating. Is it the carbs or timing? I'm a newbie and need some help.

Check accelerator pumps too.
If theres a slight or BAD lag right when you hit the throttle but a little touchy throttle 'feathering' gets you going then its usually accel pumps. Clogged or Mal-adjusted. Look in the carb (yeah airlceaner off)...be careful of the backfire though (or do it while the car is OFF- but not too many times or you'll flood it.) and see if fuel is squirting nice and steady for a second just as the throttle is activated. Good? Get a weber tech book and follow their advice.. If you have carbs on a car you expect to drive, its worth a thousand bucks to have a book- but it only costs like $15. Bob O my prediction: next reply says- go back to fool injection. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |
