Hello,
I have a 1975 914 2.0, the car came with a rear sway bar unattached and missing the drop links and bushings on one side. I am trying to find out if this was a factory or aftermarket rear sway bar, I think it is aftermarket because of the U-Tabs attached at the base of the rear shocks. I have purchased the weld in attachment plate and the bushings and tabs for the attachment under the trunk. Can someone explain the procedure for welding in the plate, location etc.. I am also looking to purchase the hardware & bushings that attaches the bushings to the drop links, I have purchased the missing drop link which was a genuine Porsche Drop Link, it measures up exactly to the drop link on the sway bar. Still learning.... Went through 15 pages of articles with "Rear Sway Bar". I feel well informed to the Rear Sway Bar versus No rear Sway Bar debate. As for the information about welding the plate in, nothing until I stumbled on to the Pelican Parts Tech questions under "Rear Sway Bar install" and found all my answers, I recommend it for anyone with rear sway bar questions. Moving forward, it is very interesting about the two schools of thought on rear sway bars some can't stand them others can't imagine running without them? What a great country!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/flag.gif) I guess it all depends on how you want to drive your car and how you want it to perform and feel. Bottom line is the 914 really does have incredible feel.
