Well this thread may already be in existence, but I have yet to find it if it is.
First off, I adore my car. It's old, not very shiny, and needs some things fixed. In that respect, it's just like me. =) I also live to be outdoors and go biking or kayaking every chance I get. For that reason, all my vehicles have rack systems. It's just par for the course around my place. Well, I took the rack off my saturn as I'm about to try and sell it, when it hit me..."I wonder if I can get this to work on the porsche"? Turns out, I could...and did. I'm very happy with it. I used an extra top I had, cleaned it up, and so if I don't plan on going biking or boating, I will just leave the rack top in the garage, and the other top stays in the rear trunk for if I need it. So, I'd love to see what others have come up with to extend their cars uses to include extra carry space, be it for luggage, bodies, what have you. Here are a couple pics of my setup, that currently will hold at least two kayaks and my bike. I am toying with the idea of a rear trunk luggage rack someday. But who knows. Joe |

Here is my kayak rack. I added two sockets bolted underneath the roll bar, the place where the factory ski racks bolted to. I have a cross bar that simply slides into the sockets and is held there with quick release pins. For the rear, I built a trailer hitch receiver. I have a "T" bar that fits into the receiver to support the rear of the boat. This also works for bike racks, or for adding a trailer hitch ball. JoeO
