I just finshed a fiberglass passenger door "skin" for a fellow member. It does not have the inner section as you can see. Also there is no provision for mounting to the hinges. I mounted mine with Dsuz fittings pop riveted to in the door jam. Or you can use the stock door frame and bond the skin to it to be able use the hinges. This one weighs in a five (5) pounds on the bathroom scale. Next one I do will be 3-4 pounds, but one or two pounds isn't a big deal.
BTW, a stock door with the glass removed is in the 30-40 pound range depending on early or late, door handle or not. Anybody want one? Paul Attached image(s) ![]() |

Eric,
I already had the mold from when I made my own doors. But this one took longer than it should have. If I needed to I could get one out in a week to two. PS: Very sharp eye, yes my wife's Jetta. Don't know the model (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) , it's blue. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Paul |
