I just finshed a fiberglass passenger door "skin" for a fellow member. It does not have the inner section as you can see. Also there is no provision for mounting to the hinges. I mounted mine with Dsuz fittings pop riveted to in the door jam. Or you can use the stock door frame and bond the skin to it to be able use the hinges. This one weighs in a five (5) pounds on the bathroom scale. Next one I do will be 3-4 pounds, but one or two pounds isn't a big deal.
BTW, a stock door with the glass removed is in the 30-40 pound range depending on early or late, door handle or not. Anybody want one? Paul Attached image(s) ![]() |

I started with an early door...
plus I cut all of the door panel/regulator and mounting stuff away... plus I drilled 15 or so holes in it (3.5 inch holes in the bottom)... I'll reskin the door panel in aluminum and fold it to close off the window chanels.... so I guess 12 lbs is only with a bit of work... but hey the vintage out here requires metal not glass. b |
