My 914 wont crank with the key. i have taken a screwdriver to the starter and it cranks nice, so i know its not the starter or battery. my next step is to test the ignition switch. can anyone give me pointers on how to get to it? my repair manual is no help in this way. does anyone have better wiring schematics than the one in my manual also? if you can help i would appreciate it. thanks

It's the fat yellow wire behind the switch. It also goes to the seat belt relay under the passenger seat befor it gets to the starter. check there too. You can bypass the relay with a paper clip for testing by connecting the two yellow wires. If you use a teast light behind the switch on the yellow wire. You should see it light up if the switch is good. If no light, you need a new ignition.
