I've been thinking about this for a while.
With Nelson's 914 on the rotisserie and Luckie's 986 on the lift, I took the opportunity to use a straight edge and a measuring tape to make some basic measurements. I've never been a fan of the 914 rear suspension, so I've been contemplating 986 rear suspension (along with the rest of the drivetrain) in a 914. I thought I would have to cut the 914 at the firewall to make it happen, but I might not. The initial survey suggests that removal of the /4 engine mounts and the 914 suspension console may facilitate the addition of some metal that would make this work. The hardest part appears to be the rear upper shock support. I may regret starting this thread, but I'm having a hard time spending $3k of my money to rebuild a 2.0. I'd rather put the money toward something special. Comments? |

Here's one that had a late model rear console, trans, etc installed. I remember Ron saying it took weeks to get everything lined up including the engine, trans and all suspension bits.
