I have a set of 22mm Sway Away hollow torsion bars I am installing.
When I take out the old TB's there is a layer of grease or some lubricant. What is this? Do the new ones need this? The TB's are stamped R and L. Is this the drivers right? or standing in front of the car right? |

QUOTE L and R are however you want them to be. The bars are actually identical, but when they are used and repeatedly stressed in the car they take a "set". Putting them back on the other side stresses them the other way and leads to premature failure. That seems to contrary to the page from the factory manual I posted. I believe they warn to never swap them as they are preloaded at manufacturing. |
