This thread is to document the restoration of the newest member of my family. After my 1973 914 2.0L was totaled a month ago I was heartbroken, but out of the ashes(and insurance money) rose Calypso.
She is a 1974 2.0L. It is not fully loaded(no sways, chrome bumpers, or aluminum sills) but is COMPLETELY original. It has a few blemishes that I have found so far, and certainly I will find more as i get to know her better. Attached image(s) |

I will certainly be thinking about that! For now I am trying to the the FI set up to where it doesn't hang when you let off the gas.
I checked the resistances of the FI harness and everything lines up to the pbanders specs. The AAR still isn't closing after soaking it in pb for two days, it is going in for another two tonight. I used a bit of high vaccum grease on all the vacuum line fittings and now I am able to adjust the idle speed with the screw on the manifold some. The ECU knob is set four clicks from full lean. I had read elsewhere that it should be closer to the middle(around 11 clicks) but if I go any further, even with the idle speed screw all the way in I can't bring the idle speed down to a useable level. |
