I voted for "Speedster Mike" because of its' overall cleanliness and condition. The engine bay is pristine and the interior is very well kept. Its' overall execution is very good. Yes, the six, is a six, for what it is...well, it's good, but it is neglected by any other standards, (sixes owned by other people on this site). It has a terrible front bumper top. The dash material is embedded with dirt from one side to the other. The carpet is old. The cross-over air cleaner is missing stickers. and the center stowage piece is damaged...etc, etc... Another five or six grand, it could be better. Dave, I really don't think critisizing the guy's car is called for ( I really don't like it in the Classified either). It's bad enough when "Real" Politicians do it with Negative Ads, but here, we should be supportive of each other & our cars. T.C. |

I agree ...TC; however my words were not harsh, just pointed out why I didn't choose the 914/6. If someone wants to leverage their chances with a six, then they should show more effort and clean the car first. (...boy, I'm glad I held back the bad comments about the others !) Maybe, the Car of the Month has moved from displaying the best effort...to "who knows who" or "friends of friends." It was an effort to level the playing field. Photos of each entry were submitted for comparison and judgement... If we ARE to be supportive of each other and our cars, then let's look at the details...and reward their hard work. Offering a beautifully kept 1.7 should be on equal terms as a 914/6. Once, I had a chance to look closely at a 916 and was sadly disappointed in the fit and execution. The only thing that I enjoyed was the 190 HP 2.4S motor. The rest of the car seemed trite, and less than it should have been. The real 916 is only a '72 /4 frame with a 2.4S motor. I didn't know that "WE" were so...thin skinned. If anyone here should be on the "Car of the Month" it should be the English guy that totally replaced the bottom six inches of his car from scratch. Talk about effort, and dedication. p.s. What Classifieds ? I didn't see that... |
