This thread is to document the restoration of the newest member of my family. After my 1973 914 2.0L was totaled a month ago I was heartbroken, but out of the ashes(and insurance money) rose Calypso.
She is a 1974 2.0L. It is not fully loaded(no sways, chrome bumpers, or aluminum sills) but is COMPLETELY original. It has a few blemishes that I have found so far, and certainly I will find more as i get to know her better. Attached image(s) |

Been a while since the last update. MUSR was a blast, and the drive there and back from Lafayette went well. Towards the end of the drive back the clutch started acting a little funny, which leads me to the current state.
I pulled the engine to replace the clutch, and found a spot more rust in the hell hole than the previous owner had admitted to. It looked far better with the engine in. I shipped the car off to Brad Mayeur and had him put in a new right engine shelf and generally clean up the area. Before: After: |
