Here's the latest:
The AX portion of the event has hit some cones. The DeLand Airport is interested in ending motorsports on the field. To that end, they are not granting new applications to use the AX runway. After speaking with the organizations that are still currently grandfathered to use the facility, they have all told me that the pavement has become very deteriorated. Each group is looking for a new place to run because the city won't fix the asphalt. We have two possibilities here, find another place to run or find something else to do for that portion of the event. Since I recently purchased a boat, I'm considering setting up a trip to (Google:) Disappearing Island out in Ponce Inlet for all of us. My only concern would be the possibility of cool weather in early November for a water-based event. More to follow...... |
