QUOTE(skline @ Jun 13 2004, 07:58 PM) I really dont know what the fuss is over an LT1, it is the same engine as a regular 350. The one that is different, is the LS1. It is the newer style engine and it is larger. Maybe I am misinformed, but I had an LT1 in my Trans Am and it is no different than a standard SBC, It had aluminum heads and its the same motor as the Z28 and Corvette. The newer cars now come with the LS1. Different breed. Could someone clarify this for me? Am I wrong? I dont think I am. But it could happen. I thought I was wrong once before, but I was mistaken. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Correct from my experience - The LT1/LT4 shares a lot in common with the Vortec 350. Main difference is it weighs 50 lbs less due to the aluminum heads. The cast iron heads flow better. The LS1 series is a different animal. All aluminum, no provision for a dizzy (must have coil packs and harness/ecu to fire it) and no aftermarket carb manifolds that I am aware of. They stuff them in dune buggys and prefer the Corvette model. |
