Hello all,
Finally was able to register my account so I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Geoffrey & my recent acquisition of a 74 1.8 914 would be the reason for joining the group. I got an awesome deal on my not too rusty little gem, paid a thousand bucks. she's completely stock but for wheels (empi eight spokes) stereo, electronic ignition & an addco type front swaybar. thus far I have brought all the maintenance up to date with a valve adjustment, plugs, filters... I also was getting some noise out of the wheel brgs so I replaced them all. I also replaced the dry rotted pizza cutter tires with new 195/60/15's & dropped the front ride height to get rid of the nose in the air look. next up is saving the car. I.E. fixing the rust. In this regard I feel I got pretty lucky. small amounts of surface rust here and there with the worst of it being spots under the rocker panels at the jacking points, under the passenger side headlamp & at the lower firewall on the drivers side. right now she's what I call a rolling resto. I'm currently d/d her while I finish the restafication of my 91 Galant VR4. One the Galant is finished, hopefully in the next six months or so, the teener will go under the knife. right now I'm leaning towards the wrx swap but having a good friend working in a local VW shop I may let him talk me into a 2056 build... jury is still out. About me; I have been a car guy/mechanic for about 25 years. I have restored & modified more cars than I can count for myself, my friends & my customers. I look forward to being an active member of the 914 community & look forward to meeting some of you guys & seeing your projects first hand. I live in Fallbrook, located in north San Diego county CA. so if you happen to see my little white, for now, Beater, feel free to say hello. so far I have only seen a couple others on the road. one really nice guy with a nice orange 2.0 & another white one running around Escondido with a trunk rack. Peace, Geoffrey. "Joffrey" |

The int. actualy looks a lot better in person than the pics & the wheels are the result of about twelve hours of refinishing. My buddies where ranking me quite bad over them before.
