Answers to a few of your questions:
The round thing that came off the top of the spring is called a retainer. There were two "keepers" (that you found one of) that pulled through the retainer. You need to find the other one (at least it is steel - get a magnet). The piston does not look too bad (from the dark pics) - you can probably deburr and reuse it, but the rust on the cylinders may have taken away that option (hard to tell how bad it is from the pics). The mark on the pushrod could be from hitting the pushrod tube or the pushrod tube spring retainer. The mark is shorter than the total amount the pushrod would move from cam lift, so I'm a little confused about that. Technically, you did not "drop" a valve, you bent a valve. Just to minimize confusion. |
