If you recently had a wheel (or two) off your frontend and you experience a vibration in the steering afterwards, chances are, you caught some dirty between the wheel and the hub.

This is even more likely if you're running one or more spacers.

McMark dropped my car off at my house last night (now *that* is customer service! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) ) and reported a shaky frontend at freeway speeds.

So today during lunch break i took the front wheels off and found that the second spacer on the drivers side was wobbling by a good mm left to right.

I cleaned all surfaces, put it all back together, made sure there was no wobble and voila:
Smooth like butter up to 120 ...

I need to get rid of my FLAPS 1/4" generic spacers. I have to mark the wheels so that they are installed exactly the same way every time or else I get a vibration. The last time I bolted them up, I got them exactly right and have no vibration whatsoever.

This after tightening the front wheel bearings farther than I think necessary, so I know it has to be the spacers.

I about (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif) when I saw the price for the new Brey-Krause hubcentric spacers. $250 for 7mm? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif)
