This is my 914. I bought it in San Francisco back in 09. I haven't been able to find any info on this convertible conversion and was wondering if anyone knows anything about the kit or if they recognize the car.

The photo I didn't get is the one I would like to see most. Where and how the front latches and what the fabric attaches to up front. I had guessed they chopped up a targa top.
Mark Shaeiugsfv (Euro911) had mentioned interest in a soft Targa top. After seeing how the back of the new Boxster Spyder is, I thought of combining both. I almost cut up my targa but held off to see one of these convertibles worked. Then Elliot had a very nice design. I have to look back at that. I hardly ever have my top on. I don't like it in the back because it makes it hard to get to tools. I have driven home from work in a light rain. This may be what I was looking for. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) if I remeber correctly the two tabs are bolted to the top of the window frame instead of welded. The forawd rod on the soft top has 2 pins on both ends of the window that slide through the holes on those tabs, then slide the quick pins on like you use on a 3 point tractor. the rear body work should be easy but im not sure how one would go about leaning the windshield back further. the soft top could be reproduced by anyone with a torch, conduit bender, hammer, anvil, some round bar, and sewing skills. I might be able to get you specific pics if I am able to go home tomorrow. |
