Hey guys, well here it is. My 71 1.7! I'm anxious to get started. First thing I want to do is sand the body down and start the primer process. First Question, what grit sandpaper should I use to begin with to start to get some surface rust off as well as the old paint? I want to get it down to metal and go from there, inside and out. The car also came with 2 trans and I want to know how I know which one came with the car? Sorry for all of the stupid questions, but I'm a nube! Also gonna post a link to more pictures in a post to follow this. I will also add the VIN number to the database on here...

I have been a fan of the green on the 914 forever.
I think I want to go with the porsche viper green if I want a more classic solid color. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/forums.pelicanparts.com-10819-1396574083.1.jpg) If I go with a more metallic, I will use chevy synergy green.: [img][/img] As for the 'prep for media blast in one weekend'... you are either a boss in the disassembly dept. or you arent planning on stripping the whole car! I can drop an engine in about an hour, but stripping a tub bare would take me days. Are you just blasting the exterior and keeping the interior intact? |

I have been stripping the car for about a month now, pulling the engine, gas tank and AC this weekend and then it's ready to go to blast! |
