Hey guys, well here it is. My 71 1.7! I'm anxious to get started. First thing I want to do is sand the body down and start the primer process. First Question, what grit sandpaper should I use to begin with to start to get some surface rust off as well as the old paint? I want to get it down to metal and go from there, inside and out. The car also came with 2 trans and I want to know how I know which one came with the car? Sorry for all of the stupid questions, but I'm a nube! Also gonna post a link to more pictures in a post to follow this. I will also add the VIN number to the database on here...

I you get time this week think about the other parts you may need to get it rolling.
I will grab you a right upper engine tin, the window parts, tail lights, head light buckets, and a few others. Need to think about exhaust. You will need a fairly free flowing exhaust but I would try to get one that has heat exchangers. I have a dual Monza muffler for a 2.0. Not the best but it might get you by until you decide on a performance muffler. |
