Why does the 1.7 put out more power than the 1.8? Why does the early 2.0 put out more power than the later 2.0?

Why does the 1.7 put out more power than the 1.8? Why does the early 2.0 put out more power than the later 2.0? The later 2.0 had smog equipment and a restrictive exhuast. Not sure about the 1.7, maybe it was configured better, or did the 1.8 come out after smog equipment added too. |
