Is there a chrome bumper that was made that would have the same opening for airflow as this fiberglass one?

No fabbing to it. Drill out the corners so you end up with a nice radius in the corners. Takes about 10 min's to cut, file and smooth the edges.

If that's all your going to cut out, don't even bother... waste of a good chrome bumper and you'll lose accident protection. The front of the car is a high pressure area, air will go wherever it can. It does NOT need to be a visibly direct route.
