hi,
im a newbie so please excuse the beginner's questions. I have a 1975 1.8L L-jet. Currently the car will start, but not idle at all. I checked all the vaccuum lines in back and cant find anything wrong with them. The car reads as having between and quater and half of a tank of guess, which i put in. I just replaced the battery and i can hear the feul pump humming when I turn the car on. I am baffeled as to what the heck is going on, any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I had the same set-up years ago 75 1.8 l-jet. Didn't like it.
Always had problems. Went through everything. Ran good, sometimes. Wouldn't pass smog. Sold it. Anyway, check the position of the flapper in the air flow meter ( potentiometer? name? ). If it stays shut while cranking it will start on cold start injector only and then die. Make sure that flapper is able to move freely. There is a plastic lid on top of the AFM that lets you fake the brain out if you open it up. You may need an assistant to help you. I have a spare one here, if you want to try it. Brain, too. KT |
