There were several Mazda RX7's in the race. They had these REALLY loud annoying rotary engines that just made an ugly sound. As I recall, they were all running mufflers which was the first time I had ever seen a race car with a muffler. Without the mufflers, they would have been unbearable.
The RX7's were in GTU along with Glenn's 914/6. As I recall, Glenn's car didn't qualify well and started in either the last row or next to last row. It moved up quickly and late in the race was running something like 3rd in class when it got tangled up with someone and ended up losing several places. Attached thumbnail(s)
