I know, I know .............. Being the one true anti-pertronix, I haven't a clue where the red and black wires go. Swapping a distributor to the guy's new Type 1 motor, and I need to know so I don't let all the smoke out ............................ TIA, the Cap'n

WARNING: the Pertronix needs to get its power w/o the ballast resistor interfering. If the coil has an internal resistor, no worries, just hook the red to + and the black to -. If there's an external ballast resistor or a resistor wire to the + post, you need to hook the red wire up BEFORE that. If you try to run the Pertronix on less than 12 volts, it won' t work. I don't think it will smoke, but it will run like crap (assuming you can even get it started).
