PET is "Porsche Ersatz Teile Katalog" or "Porsche Parts Catalog".

You'd get a whole blank serial motor, one that had both bus and 914 oil fill options and the service department would stamp your original engine numbers on it. They might have replaced just the head if the owner smoked the valved during warranty, or possibly during the 80's or 90's and dealt with a place that used factory parts. Later repairs would have been more likely to use aftermarket parts as those original factory replacement parts became nla. I'd be all over factory exchange heads or whole motor if you could get those still. The other stuff, "embedded" I'm not sure. Seems the replacement head came with a tube of lubricant for greasing up the lifters and pushrod ends. Also not really sure what is 37.1 mm, might be a reference number rather than a metric length? The W numbers I think are engine numbers; if you had an original engine with US issue djet within that range, that's the replacement head you'd order. OP is 1 number off which seems to have been superseded in this version of the PET. With valves, just that there is a part number for the head and for the valves individually but also for this replacement package. |
