Since I keep being told you like my videos, here's another.
Last weekend I ran my first SCCA Club Race. Previously, I had only run Papa in PCA races and one SCCA time trial. This video is from the Sunday Group 3 Sprint Race with CCR SCCA at Carolina Motorsports Park. Papa Smurf runs in GT2 class... against all the "Big Bore" American Iron/NASCAR/Trans Am cars. With old, worn out tires (used 3 days at PCA race at road Atlanta)and shifting issues, I managed to qualify 2nd in the entire group both Saturday and Sunday. By Sunday, the tires were shot and lap times tumbled to more than 6 seconds slower than on Saturday. Plus...there started to be a shifting issue on Sunday were shifting from 2nd to 3rd was difficult. There are at least 3 turns at CMP where 2nd gear is needed, so that again made racing "interesting"... This video is a great example of how a good handling car (albeit with no grip tires) can perform against raw horsepower on a tight road course... Notice a few times I had some agricultural excursions. ... :-) When I watch this video, I feel like it's in slow motion. When grip sucks in a tight course, everything is slower because you come out of tr turns slower, you straight line speed suffers, etc... Enjoy... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIgtYXsfvlo |

Keep in mind...this is CMP. Barely use 4th, never 5th...
Oh, and I only have a little 6 cylinder engine...not one of those big honkin V8's... |
