Was driving last week and the generator light came on, went off, came on again, and then it stayed on.
Belt is on, VR was swapped with another I have around (and another is on the way), ground at the tranny is connected and good, battery charged and tightened, fuses 8 & 9 are good and new, spun to make sure they are connected. Voltage meter is showing 12 to 13. Anything else I can troubleshoot before I pull the generator? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) |

I got the new alternator installed. Fully charged new battery. New VR.
Light is still on... [4) Write down the voltages and report back on this thread.] One side is 12.0 ish, the other is 12.7 ish. Both at idle. |

Both at idle. QUOTE I got a floating 11.7-12.5 on the red / white side, and 0.05 on the other side. This time ground (to the shifter). Which measurement is correct? The second one with 12.5 and 0.05? If so, the 0.05 is not right. The RED/WHITE wire comes from the battery through fuse F9. The other wire should be BLUE (according to my Haynes manual) coming from the VR. It's voltage should match the battery voltage. |
