I think I have covered the most common Fuchs wheel size combos for a GT tribute or clone. This would be for aggressive street and possibly light track use. Pick a wheel size combo that you think looks best in your opinion. Then list your reasons ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
BTW I am certain most have seen this article on Eric Shea's GT: http://www.retromodmag.com/features/porsche-914-6-gt Edit: please post pics to further illustrate your preference! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Pat...
Short answer... You're correct ...in a street driven car better to have same sizes so you can rotate for wear. In a race car you want grip and wear is just what happens. 7x8... Race: More rubber on the ground better bite coming out of the corners with rear wheel drive. Street: Looks...the move from 15 to 16 = more/better tire choices |

But unless there's some physical deterrent preventing wider widths on the front wouldn't most people get the same size front for better turning as well? I remember a couple years back in IMSA, I believe it was P2, one of the teams experimented with the same width tires front and back. I'm guessing they were trying to determine if the change would effect drag enough for lap speeds as apposed to having fewer tire changes during stints. They gave it up after a year. Just curious if everyone that have 7x8 tires are doing this for racing reasons or just because. Probably stepping on the OP reason for this thread but it just got me thinking about why so many use this setup. |
