a friend has been looking for this one product that claims to protect the glass on headlights/foglights. possibly a 3m product? if not know know any such product on the market? thanks in advance.

Some BMW/Mini dealers offer some type of clear film that will cover headlights and painted areas that are prone to stone chips. I've seen quite a few Mini Coopers around with this applied. You could try calling a local dealer and ask what they use...
